# Switch Settings

Usually following steps are required to activate dot1x / RADIUS authentication on your switch:

#### Global Switch Settings

- Configure a RADIUS Server:
- Enter the IP address of the RADIUS server
- Enter the pre shared key for the RADIUS server
- Activate AAA on the switch (not on all models required)
- e.g. `aaa new model` and `aaa authentication dot1x default group radius`

#### on each Switchport

- Activate dot1x authentication

## Finding correct RADIUS settings

Open the console on the RADIUS server you got from HS2N.

Under the menu entry **Info** you will see the sharded secret, required for your switches:
